irrational hubris is what has made our country what it is today. The greatest country. Ever. Huge engineering projects are profound in that they are unique expression of what makes us most human of all, our ability not only to reason and use tools and manipulate nature, but to do it together. Go progress!
It would be so cool. And people will pay for cool. Look at Trump Tower -- that building got sold, one premium-priced condo at a time. A building as stunning as this one will attract the money people who like art. And with all the property tax that this building will generate, we'll be able to finance neighborhood infrastructure (Bill). These mega-projects also help create affordable housing, because when there's a glut of housing, prices come down. So build it! Build it!
Put the money in the neigborhoods. We don't need this.
ReplyDeleteAnother great site to see in our Great City!

ReplyDeleteTrump went bankrupt? The tv and media attention bail him out. His real estate prowess may not.
ReplyDeleteIf the new building or other highrises go bankrupt, would you (the govt and taxpayers) be up for bailing out the owners or developers?
