Journey. 1981. Don't Stop Believing. Steve Perry.
That is about as awesome as a song gets.
And Terry Armour has the scoop here that the White Sox have adopted it as their anthem for the World Series -- and they are trying to get Steve Perry to sing in for Game 1 of the World Series.
What a great move.
I'm in New York this week for a conference, and walked past Yankee Stadium yesterday (first time in The Bronx). It was nice to think that despite all those World Champion signs on Yankee Stadium, a Chicago team made it to the Series this year.
So while I won't be jumping on the bandwagon, it's hard to be a hater.
I hope the White Sox take it all.
And then we sweep them at Wrigley next year.
some older people in "leadership" positions are in coital positions.
ReplyDeleteanalytical reasoning, effective perception, and sound judgement are lacking. Chicago may have taken a downturn at the turn-of-the-century and be worse than other cities (not sure).
so i say it is good to expose this. we may need to help the Sox break-even.
Hey Dan-
ReplyDeleteThe first show I ever went to was Journey on that tour -- with Greg Kihn opening -- but that was 24 years ago and I can now can safely say I've moved on. "As awesome as a song gets"? Careful there -- your street cred is in jeopardy.

I am secretly rooting for the White Sox. St. Louis? No way. No Cubs fan could ever...Houston? They are recenet division rivials and Lance Berkman is a jerk and would mock Sammy in his own house. And they are from Texas, Houston even, the worst city in Texas. F George Bush. Go Illinois. Go White Sox. Go South Side. Power to the people.
